Hello, I’m James, a copywriter, Creative Director and artist. I’ve written ads for agencies including Wieden+Kennedy, Anomaly, Mother, adam&eve, BBC Creative and Copa90, and continue to put a passion for all sports* to good use for brands such as Nike, Jordan, Google, Puma, Umbro, FIFA and adidas.
I also moonlight as a ‘custom creator’, by hand-painting denim jackets into iconic football kits, some of which have been made personally for icons including Kaká, Ronaldinho, Djibril Cissé, Alexi Lalas, Romeo Beckham and Sébastien Frey.
My personal projects have been featured in the physical and digital pages of Vice, Esquire, GQ, Wired, Fast Company, Sky Sports, BBC Sport, BBC Three, Art of Football, SoccerBible, Cult Kits, Complex, Gawker, BuzzFeed, The Sun, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail, LA Weekly, GOOD, DesignBoom, The Inspiration and It’s Nice That, and appeared on the BBC's Q.I. television programme.
After fulfilling a lifetime ambition to appear in Playboy, I have also exhibited in galleries in London, Los Angeles, Gothenburg, Seoul and Amsterdam.
In 2023 I founded Unlicensed FC, a creative studio for the sports-obsessed.
