A little over two years ago I had heart surgery. My aeortic valve had been deteriorating over my life time. I had no idea. I had been on many sports teams. Physicals had been passed for the Marine Corps, films, and television shows. I would workout four to six times a week playing basketball, going to the gym, and backpacking. You name it and I did it. Yet the bomb ticked away.
Like Jack Bauer, my cardiologist noticed something at the 11th hour. The surgery saved my life.
One of the many good things that, strangely, came from that moment was a blog my wife’s cousin, Eric Nelson, put together for me. Hundreds of fans and friends wrote of their concern and affection. It also became a community. It was a place for people to speak of their health concerns and other issues of life, both good and bad.
Now, we have another blog. This one will not go away. It is also a place for community. I hope you all will use it to , not only, talk to me, but to communicate with each other.
I will tackle a lot subjects in this blog. Yes, because it is my blog I can do that. Sometimes some of you will disagree with a statement or opinion. I only ask that you disagree respectfully. No foul language, no personal attacks, and no bigotry of any kind will be tolerated. Opinion, smart, informed argument and conversation, and good fun will be encouraged.
I has been over two years since my web site was current. Many of you have experience unanswered emails and uncertainty about events or appearances. I am happy to tell you that those problems have been remedied and this site will be active and informative.
